Facing abuse, helping paediatricians recognise child abuse

According to a recent survey, child abuse goes unrecognised in one in two hospitals in Italy and abroad. Often the signs are not easy to spot and very few of the young victims manage to seek help. To combat this social plague, Menarini is supporting the Facing abuse: emergence and communication in child and adolescent abuse initiative, a project that has existed for years but was relaunched in 2022 under a new name.

The project, carried out under the patronage of the Italian Society of Paediatrics, aims to bring to light the many cases of physical, psychological and sexual violence, neglect, addiction and bullying that have been submerged until now. How? Through a cycle of training courses for specialised paediatricians throughout the country to help them identify situations of ill-treatment in its various forms. Thanks to this network of "sentinel pediatricians", in future many children in difficulty will be able to be cared for and grow up in a healthy and safe environment.
